I love it when clients follow your work for so long and then they just want to celebrate who they are together and you’re the chosen person to bring that light into reflection. I love it when people celebrate love beyond weddings and continue to session up after getting married, having kids, or even before so. Sometimes life just needs celebration for no reason and that’s what this was and I loved every minute of it. These two are now a family of three and I still love these photos immensely for the memories they bring me, of a moment where love and having fun is all that really matters.

Rita and João got married almost two years ago and I still can't get their day out of my head. It is still one of my favourite days I've ever been able to document. I remember the feeling of adventure I had for shooting in such a cool location, different from the usual quintas and I just truly wish it would never end. And that mostly because it was the feeling everybody pretty much shared on that epic day. A few weeks prior we met yet again to shoot a bit in a place they love. It was simple yet a moment they owned with every bit of their personality which I love. Here's a few of my favourite. 

Mal posso acreditar que esta sessão já foi há tanto, tanto tempo. Lembro-me como se fosse hoje a primeira mensagem que troquei com a Susana, e o quanto ela me fez sentir especial por aquilo que faço. O dia foi tão bonito num sítio especial para eles, um sítio onde planeio muitos outros projectos por ser dos meus preferidos também. Já merecia ser partilhado. Aqui está. 
 

Sessões de Inverno começam aos tropeções a ser das minhas preferidas. Poucas coisas batem o frio daquela altura do ano que se encontra entre duas estações, em transição. Talvez só mesmo sessões nesses dias com duas pessoas abertas a nada mais que a tudo o que há de bom, a tudo o que é sincero, e a serem como sempre são, como na companhia segura de quem confiam. Duas pessoas que me fazem sentir totalmente à vontade e que me fazem sentir que o que faço as move. Pessoas que abraçam o destino como valsa e fado - e sabem que não interessa o que vier, virá por bem. Como este dia foi também o seu casamento, mas esse virá um pouco mais tarde. Por agora, que o Inverno se parece estar finalmente a instalar, deixo-vos a estas imagens, em jeito de celebração. 

Até hoje continuo a lembrar-me tão bem das cores da natureza neste dia. Os verdes mais verdes que já alguma vez tinha visto. Amarelos que eram um sonho também. Um Verão convertido em Primavera. E estes dois abraçaram a sua timidez como se estivessem a abraçar a própria natureza. E este é o resultado. O casamento foi tão especial como eles são e mal posso esperar para partilhar as minhas imagens preferidas desse dia. Mas por agora as fotografias da sua E-session mostram o amor que sentem um pelo o outro e são prova de como serem o que realmente são é tudo o que é preciso para criar imagens intemporais. 

To this day I still remember the colours of the nature happening while I shot away. Greener greens I've ever seen. The yellows were a dream too. Like a Summer turned into Spring.  And these two embraced their shyness like they were embracing nature itself. And this is the result. Their wedding day was as special as they are and I can't wait to share my favourite images from then. For now a few of their engagement images can give you a little peak of the love they have for each other and proof that being who you are is all it takes to create timeless images. 

 

Esta foi a e-session de um dos casais que eu tenho a honra de poder sentir que se tornaram muito especiais para mim. Irei escrever algo mais longo quando publicar o seu casamento dentro de algumas semanas. Mas por agora a sinceridade destas imagens falará do seu amor à vida, e da compaixão e gratidão que sinto perante duas das melhores pessoas com que pude trilhar caminho este ano.

This was the engagement session of one of the couples I have the honor of being able to feel they became so very special to me. I will write something more once I publish their wedding day in a few weeks. But for now the honesty of these images will speak of their love for life, and the compassion and gratitude I feel for two of the best people I had the pleasure of walking alongside with this year. 

Quando a Maria e o Diogo finalmente chegaram a Portugal e nos pudemos finalmente conhecer e conversar um bocadinho sobre o seu dia, cedo concluímos que o dia estava perfeito para a nossa sessão e para Lisboa lhes dar um abraço apertado ao regressarem de Londres. Aqui estão algumas fotografias deste dia maravilhoso. O casamento foi incrível também e virá em breve!

When Maria and Diogo finally arrived to Portugal and we got to know each other and chat a little bit at last, we soon concluded that it was a perfect day for our session and for Lisbon to give them a warm embrace, after long months in London. Here are some of the shots of this wonderful day. The wedding was incredible too and will come soon! 

 

A Mariana e o André são Portugueses mas vieram desde Londres, onde moram. É evidente o amor que têm a Lisboa, e a felicidade que sentem cada vez que cá vêm e podem finalmente estar com os amigos e família. Disseram-me que não tinham jeito nenhum, mas vi logo que mentiram! O melhor que se pode trazer para uma sessão destas é sinceridade, cumplicidade e alegria, muita, em dose a dobrar. Porque o meu trabalho é tentar descortinar tudo isso, mas quando não há alegria, timidez ou à-vontade, boa disposição, e não confiarem em mim, os resultados são tão diferentes dos que se vêm aqui. Esta sessão passou a correr, um pouco também por haver tanta conversa para pôr em dia, por ser a primeira vez que pudemos fazê-lo por eles estarem por Lisboa durante este fim-de-semana para os anos do André. O grande dia está a chegar a passos largos, e eu fico tão feliz quando vejo casais que moram fora, e a sua gigante coragem em planear e montar um dia tão importante à distância, porque o mais importante são eles e a família, e a comemoração do que sentem. Mal posso esperar para daqui a duas semanas os ver entrar numa nova fase das suas vidas, e poder documentar tudo isso!

Mariana and André are Portuguese but they came all the way from London, where they currently reside. It's obvious the love they have for Lisbon, and the happiness they irradiate every time they visit and can finally be with friends and family again. They told me they were no good at these things but I soon realised they lied! The best thing couples can bring to my sessions is sincerity, complicity, happiness, a whole lot of happiness (don't forget to double it!). Because my job is to try and find all these things out, but when there's no joy, no shyness or ease, and a good and honest mood and don't trust me or my creativity, the result always end up being a whole lot different from the ones you see here. This session was overflowing will all of this and went by so fast, also because we had so much to catch up on as this was the first time we were able to chat a bit since they were in Lisbon to celebrate André's birthday. Their big day is approaching at such a fast pace, and I always get truly happy when a couple that lives abroad takes this enormous and courageous step to plan such an important day from a distance, because for them the most important part is the love for each other, and they just want to make a happy party to also share it all with friends and family. I can't wait to, in exactly 2 weeks, watch them enter this new stage in their lives, and to document it all! 

Quero muito, muito partilhar esta e-session. Tanto que apesar de ainda faltar trabalhar tantas do dia escolhi umas primeiras a dedo para enviar à Raquel e ao João que casam já este sábado, dia 3 de Maio, e quis também partilhar aqui. O trabalho tem sido tanto, acumula-se tudo e eu fico sem conseguir fazer tudo o que quero, que é também manter este espaço e o meu lugar online sempre frescos com novidades. Mas tinha mesmo de por agora partilhar alguns momentos de um dos casais que este ano mais entusiasmada estou em conhecer melhor, mais e mais! 

I want to share this engagement session a bit too much. So much that even though I have yet to work on the session more extensively, I wanted to pick a few to send to Raquel and João whose wedding is already this weekend, May 3rd, and wanted to share a few here as well. Work has been in such amounts that everything piles up and I end up not being able to do as much I'd like, which is also to keep this place and my online presence as fresh as I can. But for now I really had to share a few moments from one of the couples I am most excited to get to know more and more!
