A Mariana e o André são Portugueses mas vieram desde Londres, onde moram. É evidente o amor que têm a Lisboa, e a felicidade que sentem cada vez que cá vêm e podem finalmente estar com os amigos e família. Disseram-me que não tinham jeito nenhum, mas vi logo que mentiram! O melhor que se pode trazer para uma sessão destas é sinceridade, cumplicidade e alegria, muita, em dose a dobrar. Porque o meu trabalho é tentar descortinar tudo isso, mas quando não há alegria, timidez ou à-vontade, boa disposição, e não confiarem em mim, os resultados são tão diferentes dos que se vêm aqui. Esta sessão passou a correr, um pouco também por haver tanta conversa para pôr em dia, por ser a primeira vez que pudemos fazê-lo por eles estarem por Lisboa durante este fim-de-semana para os anos do André. O grande dia está a chegar a passos largos, e eu fico tão feliz quando vejo casais que moram fora, e a sua gigante coragem em planear e montar um dia tão importante à distância, porque o mais importante são eles e a família, e a comemoração do que sentem. Mal posso esperar para daqui a duas semanas os ver entrar numa nova fase das suas vidas, e poder documentar tudo isso!

Mariana and André are Portuguese but they came all the way from London, where they currently reside. It's obvious the love they have for Lisbon, and the happiness they irradiate every time they visit and can finally be with friends and family again. They told me they were no good at these things but I soon realised they lied! The best thing couples can bring to my sessions is sincerity, complicity, happiness, a whole lot of happiness (don't forget to double it!). Because my job is to try and find all these things out, but when there's no joy, no shyness or ease, and a good and honest mood and don't trust me or my creativity, the result always end up being a whole lot different from the ones you see here. This session was overflowing will all of this and went by so fast, also because we had so much to catch up on as this was the first time we were able to chat a bit since they were in Lisbon to celebrate André's birthday. Their big day is approaching at such a fast pace, and I always get truly happy when a couple that lives abroad takes this enormous and courageous step to plan such an important day from a distance, because for them the most important part is the love for each other, and they just want to make a happy party to also share it all with friends and family. I can't wait to, in exactly 2 weeks, watch them enter this new stage in their lives, and to document it all! 

Quero muito, muito partilhar esta e-session. Tanto que apesar de ainda faltar trabalhar tantas do dia escolhi umas primeiras a dedo para enviar à Raquel e ao João que casam já este sábado, dia 3 de Maio, e quis também partilhar aqui. O trabalho tem sido tanto, acumula-se tudo e eu fico sem conseguir fazer tudo o que quero, que é também manter este espaço e o meu lugar online sempre frescos com novidades. Mas tinha mesmo de por agora partilhar alguns momentos de um dos casais que este ano mais entusiasmada estou em conhecer melhor, mais e mais! 

I want to share this engagement session a bit too much. So much that even though I have yet to work on the session more extensively, I wanted to pick a few to send to Raquel and João whose wedding is already this weekend, May 3rd, and wanted to share a few here as well. Work has been in such amounts that everything piles up and I end up not being able to do as much I'd like, which is also to keep this place and my online presence as fresh as I can. But for now I really had to share a few moments from one of the couples I am most excited to get to know more and more! 

A Primavera tem destas coisas. Quando o céu abre e o sol aparece mas os jardins se mantêem revoltos e selvagens, e toda a cidade tem um cheiro diferente. Estava muito entusiasmada com a sessão com a Carminho e com o Rodrigo desde que deixámos a mesa da esplanada (após um majestoso final de tarde) e cessámos a conversa que durou tanto tempo quando nos conhecemos há uns meses atrás, ainda em 2013. Quando me apercebo que às vezes as pessoas são apenas tão elas mesmas, que mesmo quando não as conhecemos sentimos que sempre fizeram parte dos nossos dias, e que sempre ouvimos aquele timbre de voz, as gargalhadas e sempre houve conversa. Quando me escondo atrás da lente e finjo tirar fotografias mas na realidade estou atenta à sinceridade com que alguns noivos reagem um ao outro e a sorrir, e aperceber-me que não têm qualquer medo de entregar isso ao vento e partilhar com o mundo inteiro. É do que mais me enche o coração e me acalma e mesmo aqui na secretária debaixo da janela relembro certos momentos com tanta vividez que tudo o que resta é eu poder tentar traduzir um pouco do tudo aquilo que me entregam numa linguagem que seja universal.

Mal posso esperar para fotografar o casamento em Maio, e eu sei que digo isto muitas vezes e sempre sinto, mas acho que vendo estas imagens podem entender o porquê de eu me ter de tornar tão repetitiva...  
 

Spring has these things. When the sky opens up and sun shines through but the gardens stay revolt and wild, and the whole city has a different scent. I was truly excited for Carminho and Rodrigo's engagement session since we left the terrace table (after a majestic sunset) and once we ceased the conversation that lasted for so long when we first met a few months ago, still in 2013. When I realize that sometimes people are just themselves, that even when we do not know them for real it feels like they have always been part of the day, that we always had present that tone of voice, laughter and there was always conversation. When I hide behind the lens and pretend to take pictures but in reality I am attentive to the sincerity with which some couples react to each other and smile, and I realize that they have no fear whatsoever of letting it all go in the wind and of sharing it with the world. It more than fills my heart and calms me, and even here on the desk under the window I can recall certain moments so vividly that all that remains is my ultimate attempt to translate a bit of everything that is delivered to me in a language that is universal.

I can not wait to shoot their wedding in May, and I know I say this often and always feel this way, but I think when you see these images you might be able to understand why I have became so repetitive...

Às vezes as palavras contam mais. Mas desta vez vou deixar as imagens falar por si mesmas. Adoro fotografar casais inesperadamente sinceros. A Mónica e o Tim claramente que o são. A olhos vistos. 

Sometimes words can tell more. But this time I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I love photographing couples that are unexpectedly sincere. Mónica and Tim are one of those. Crystal clear. 

O dia prometia chuva, mas com a minha partida para fora do país a chegar com rapidez e o casamento já para breve, decidimos arriscar escolhendo Sintra. Penso que o facto de ter quase um microclima próprio ajudou. A luz estava linda, e poder finalmente conversar em pessoa com a Inês e com o Iñaki enquanto subíamos a serra no ar frio e aguaceiros pontuais, foi fantástico! Mal posso esperar para fotografar o seu casamento já no primeiro dia de Março!

The day promised rain, but with my eminent departure away from the country and the wedding day coming soon and fast, we decided to risk it by picking Sintra for the session. I think that the fact that it almost has its own microclimate helped a whole lot. The light was beautiful, and to be able to finally talk with Inês and Iñaki in person while we climbed the mountain range in the cold of the day and with occasional showers was incredible! I can't wait to photograph their wedding on the first day of the upcoming March!
